“...for locomotives go fast.” I have briefly mentioned photo-realism’s descent from (among other things) Dada (see Show Jumper), and the paradoxical relationships within the practice of both abstraction & illusionism (see Equestrian), modernism & anti-modernism (see Seafood), and ‘high’ and ‘low’ art (see Owl) which initially attracted me to it. However, I eventually tired both of the arduous technique (see Prawns) and the nihilism, for of course, a belief in nothing is still after all a belief. All of these games were at this point still unconscious pataphysics, but I was beginning to feel sick on the roundabout of the interminable negative dialectics of the anti-anti-anti-movements, and so I decided to move on. In Gallery II the images move away from photo-realism towards conscious pataphysics.
